Abstract
This paper proposes the design of a reconfigurable microstrip antenna using Defected Ground Structure (DGS) to improve characteristics of microwave circuits. The designed antenna is expected to work in four modes depending on PIN diode state, operating at resonant frequencies of (2.6, 5.35, 5.43, 5.45) GHz. VSWR value is between 1-1.4 at the resonant frequency. DGS enhances gain, bandwidth and improves the characteristics of microstrip antenna radiation. The bandwidth reached 540 MHz when both PIN diodes are on.
